TAC Claim Lawyers — Epping

Injured in a car or transport accident? The TAC scheme can cover your treatment, lost income and lump-sum compensation — we make sure you receive everything you're entitled to.

TAC claims in Victoria

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) covers people injured in transport accidents in Victoria — as a driver, passenger, motorcyclist, cyclist or pedestrian. You can claim regardless of who was at fault.

Entitlements can include medical and rehabilitation costs, income support if you can't work, and lump-sum compensation for serious or permanent injury. We help you claim properly and dispute unfair decisions.

What we help with

How it works

1
Free claim assessment

We review your accident and injuries and explain what the TAC may cover — at no cost.

2
Lodge the claim

We help you lodge within time and with the right supporting evidence.

3
Dispute unfair decisions

If the TAC denies or reduces your benefits, we challenge the decision for you.

4
Pursue lump-sum & common law

For serious injuries, we advise on impairment benefits and common-law damages.

Time limits apply — a TAC claim should generally be lodged within 12 months of the accident. Get advice early. General information only — not legal advice.

No-fault benefits and common-law claims

The TAC scheme has two parts. 'No-fault' benefits - treatment, rehabilitation and income support - are available to anyone injured in a transport accident, regardless of blame. Separately, if your injury is serious and someone else was at fault, you may also have a common-law claim for lump-sum damages. Many people claim their no-fault benefits but never realise they also had a common-law claim - we check both.

Local, and available online

We act for injured people across Melbourne's north, and because a claim is largely advice, paperwork and correspondence, you don't have to come in - we offer online consultations by phone or video so you can get your claim moving while you focus on recovery.

Common questions

Can I claim if the accident was my fault?

TAC 'no-fault' benefits (treatment and income support) are generally available regardless of fault. Common-law damages depend on fault and injury severity.

What can the TAC cover?

Medical and rehabilitation costs, loss of earnings, and lump-sum compensation for permanent impairment. We assess your entitlements.

The TAC reduced my payments — can I challenge it?

Often yes. TAC decisions can be reviewed and disputed. We advise on the process and act for you.

What does it cost to ask?

The first assessment is free and without obligation. We explain any costs before doing further work.

Do I have to pay anything up front?

No. The first assessment is free, and TAC injury claims are often run on a no-win, no-fee basis, so you generally don't pay legal fees unless your claim succeeds. We explain exactly how costs work before you commit.

How long do I have to lodge a TAC claim?

A TAC claim should generally be lodged within 12 months of the accident, though a late claim may be accepted in some circumstances up to three years. Common-law claims have their own time limits, so it's best to get advice early.

What is a 'serious injury' and a common-law claim?

If your injury is assessed as serious, you may be able to pursue a common-law claim for pain and suffering and loss of earnings on top of standard TAC benefits. We advise whether your injury is likely to meet the threshold.

Can I claim as a passenger, cyclist or pedestrian?

Yes. The TAC covers anyone injured in a transport accident in Victoria - drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians - regardless of who was at fault.
